Changelog: Apple Game Center, profanity filter settings, prop rejection codes

TL;DR

  • Talo now supports Apple Game Center as a player identification service for iOS games.
  • New profanity filter settings let you automatically block profanity in props and player identifiers.
  • Props that are rejected now return structured error codes so your game can handle each case individually.

May 2026 overview

This month's headline is Apple Game Center - our third player identification integration, joining Steamworks and Google Play Games. If your game targets iOS, players can now sign in with their Game Center account.

On the moderation side, we've introduced new profanity filter settings. When active, any props or player identifiers containing profanity are automatically rejected. Prop filters will catch profanity in player props, channel props, channel storage and leaderboard entry props.

Props that get rejected by Talo (due to size limits or profanity) now have structured errors - so your game logic can respond appropriately for each type of error.

Frontend updates

  • Apple Game Center integration: you can now enable the Apple Game Center integration on the Integrations page for your iOS games.
  • Profanity filter settings: two new game settings let you enable profanity filtering for props and player identifiers.

Profanity filter settings

  • Player dev build toggling: a player's dev build status can now be toggled directly from their profile page in the dashboard.

  • New onboarding page: added a dedicated onboarding page to help new users get started with Talo after signing up.

Platform updates

  • Apple Game Center integration: players on iOS can now be identified using their Apple Game Center account.
  • Profanity filter settings: two new game-level settings allow you to filter profanity from props and player identifiers. When enabled, any prop value or identifier containing profanity will be rejected automatically.
  • Prop size limits with structured rejection: Talo now individually rejects invalid props. The API returns structured error codes for each rejected prop, allowing your game to handle rejection cases (e.g. size limit, profanity) in your game logic.

Godot plugin updates

  • Apple Game Center identification: players can now sign in with their Apple Game Center account using identify_game_center().
  • Prop rejection signals: the plugin now emits signals with structured error codes when props are rejected, letting you handle rejection cases in your game logic.
